My early years in life were filled
with music. My Dad owned a club in town, I used to hear him sing around the
house all the time. Things like Johnny Cash, Marty Robbins and Waylon Jennings.
But like most kids we rebelled against whatever our parents listened to. My
older brother taught me "Smoke On the Water" by Deep Purple during my "KISS"
years, somewhere around 13-14 years old. From that point on I was like " I
can play this??? Well damn lets see what else I can do!" Then I heard "The
Beatles" Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. After listening to this, The
Rolling Stones and all those great 60's bands, it was over. I loved music
and would be playing music until I physically couldn't. I had somehow gotten
ahold of a guitar, an old Silvertone acoustic it was bigger than me. Up 'til
the "Deep Purple incident" basically all I had done was strum with an old
church buddy to (try) to impress the girls. I went on to form a band when
I was 14 called "Woodstock", original huh? Guess I've been in bands most of
my life ever since. I was in a band while in the Army around 1990 called "The
Fugitives" this band played all over West Germany (before the wall came down)
for military members on U.S. installations. N.C.O. clubs and the like. I have
to say that kinda seasoned me to be able to handle any kinda stuff the crowd
might give us. Rough bunch but a good time! I
like the sound of a Marshall halfstack with a hard driving Gibson guitar.
Oh and I like to sing.....like the
old man.
